Here, Then Gone

Difference Engine ~ Philip Brent

Do we believe that the world will remain
That it and we will always stay the same
Our thoughts and actions we must retain
No different than all who play the game

Most agree our world is a different place
Fire, water, ice, wind, life here, then gone
No exception; we all run in the same race
Despite how we start, together when done

Cosmos is home and we more than guests
While we seem to vanish, no before, after
We are only passing through on our quest
Game mates, some sorrow, some laughter

Always one with the other can we conceive
Yet, only the passing of an exploding star
It cannot be other, despite what we believe
A blast in silence, life spread near and far
