Memento Mori ~ Brent Harris
Whenever you hear a baby’s cry
Do you imagine someone will die
Not cause, effect, nor imperative
Life’s answer to what death gives
Pondering such questions, no fear
But simply the fact that I am here
Some do not question what, why
Don’t they marvel at the night sky
Are they then, creatures of the day
Sol as fascinating, come what may
And death’s final invitation is a gift
Before birth, the same mystery sift
Do you think me morbid; only life
Full of joy, wonder, pain and strife
Deny death’s existence at our peril
Since we all don same final apparel
