Driving Home ~ Philip Brent Harris

Why must we, on some days, feel like buffoons
when we spend those days in yesterday’s rooms?
Say hello to neighbors, think the day looks grand
but not really present, please say you understand.

I don’t wish to insult anyone, call them a clown.
Though this is a thing that should get you down.
How will we know the right things to do and say,
if we are living anywhere else than this very day?

It’s really this moment where we need to be now.
and it’s not difficult, so don’t wrinkle your brow.
Acknowledge the future, but you cannot live there.
That’s worry and won’t get you here or anywhere

Our regret leaves us open to resentment and spite.
We have already lived through the previous night.
It was dark, but then we saw the glory of the dawn.
Be present today, live to be tired; give a big yawn.

Diversity is Unity, Empathy is Empowerment 

Unite the World!
