What in your life is unforgotten?
What in your life is never remembered?
I always remember when we met
although we settled on a date.
How alone I felt sitting on a brick wall.
No money and no friends, until you said hello.
Your beauty, your smile and your welcome
opened my heart and let me see.
You bought me a cup of coffee and a cookie.
A Mexican Rock, the cookie, if I remember.
You drove me in your little blue Fiat
to the house where some hippies let me crash.
We talked for two or three hours, kissed
more than a little. Cozy. Nestled within
your sporty Fiat; it was new to me.
It wasn’t until much later you told me
you dreamed about me four days before
we met. I think we were destined to be.
And we haven’t always been easy
but we’ve always been, from then until now.
