Dive Into the Sky

Phoenix Rising ~ Philip Brent

Phoenix Rising ~ Philip Brent

Do you buy self-help books by ones, twos
Or do you buy them by the bloody dozens
Stop halfway through, dejected, confused
Yet sing their praises, to friends or cousins

Do you read the advice, but don’t follow it
And then you wonder why it doesn’t work
You sought tools to scramble from your pit
Cold and dark: it’s where your demons lurk

Cannot you comprehend you are able to fly
Chains you hear rattling don’t belong to you
Hold your hands high, then dive into the sky
Aloft you know this is a skill you always knew

When you feel lighter than any bird’s feather
Down to Earth, but flying whenever you will
Not only can you fly, you control the weather
And any perceived want or need you can fill
