Peace is Purpose, Nonviolence is Strength,
Diversity is Unity, Empathy is Empowerment

Dark as Distance

So softly now, we whisper
Walk along a clifftop path
Sun or stars, day or night
We chat, calm, confident
In the touch, the strength
Of holding another’s hand

We discover an open gate
Stairs, we slowly descend
Our limbs tired, by long use
Steps bowed, from many feet
At bottom, our pace quickens
No matter life past, we run

We dash to time’s vast ocean
Dark as distance, space, alive
Possibility, nascent, realized
Dance on the strand, exuberant
Smile, kiss, embrace, until one
Turn and dive into the depths
