Each word I write comes from a place
Which jazz musicians know well.
Riffing off the world and each other
Which will never sound the same twice.
Each dependent on brief feelings,
The vibe of the moment, connection.
Never right or wrong, barely there.
So that when it’s written down
The rest of us hear but a spark, an instant
That echoes, hints at the underlying
Truth and finally begin to understand
That only meaning is meaning.
