Could it be I finally understand,
even with my limited perception,
that I am but briefly in the band,
no matter my talent or reception?
You know you all belong as well,
Please share what is yours to tell.
Even with my limited perception,
I know the sun shines, stars glow.
Despite sleight of hand, deception,
We went, are going and always go.
We see each other down the road.
We laugh, talk, and nothing owed.
That I am but briefly in the band,
appears, but a forgone conclusion.
Poor or with peeled grapes, fanned
there could be no actual confusion.
Players who briefly trod the boards
exiting all alone or with the hoards.
No matter my talent or reception,
my flame soon a spark on the night.
It is fire’s life, there is no exception.
I hope my tiny flame burns bright.
Remember its marriage to fuel, air;
it’s rarely only one, so have a care.
You know you all belong as well,
no matter which section you’re in.
Whether soloist or just ding a bell,
Your part’s vital, as any kith or kin.
Rise to the occasion, play your part.
Please play it with all of your heart.
Please share what is yours to tell,
Note, story, song or now unknown.
You alone may play your part well.
It lives within you, blood and bone.
Take as you need, yet freely share,
What vanishes here is always there.
