Why would we wander in yesterday’s rooms,
We know they harbor ghosts we would flee?
What would we weave on yesterday’s looms?
Is this something we wish for or fear to see?
It won’t be any better if we live in tomorrow.
May dream success but more trouble borrow.
We know they harbor ghosts we would flee.
Do we view them as sweet golden shadows,
Terrifying specters who will refuse any plea?
Either owns us, they may call us mad though
We follow the paths we learned long before.
Refusing to walk through a wide-open door.
What would we weave on yesterday’s looms?
Which snarled strands need we unravel first?
Will this lead to triumph or is it what dooms,
Woven cloth, dreams, your prayers revered?
What of any thread broken when unstitched,
Might your warp and weft become switched?
Is this something we wish for or fear to see?
Will we know if we stay in the here and now,
Wonder if we’re worthy, can afford the fee?
Must we bolster our courage to learn how?
Can we imagine the world we hope to find,
Forgive our faults and to ourselves be kind?
It won’t be any better if we live in tomorrow.
We will miss what we see and do on this day
Any chances for joy or to buffer our sorrow?
Though we will work, must remember to play.
When we live now, we make our own choices.
Win, lose or draw, ignore doubt, inner voices.
May dream success but more trouble borrow.
We should believe living today is far better,
Eyes wide open, whatever life might bestow.
When today so many live the life of a debtor.
And as many think every crazy thing is true;
You probably think it of me. I think it of you.
