The Other Shoe
In times which try you, foil your plans,
do you hold on tightly, use both hands,
sink ‘neath the waves, in deep despair?
Hope anyone helps you; no one’s there.
If days, weeks, years, the world stinks,
you feel hopeless, know you’re jinxed.
You see not a way to thrive or survive,
are puzzled why you work to stay alive.
Good times now; you’re a happy clam.
Folk meet you say, yes sir, yes ma’am.
You question how you ever felt so low.
Was it what you did or did not know?
Try your best to maintain your mood;
it stays awhile, the world seems good.
O, you know the other shoe will drop.
then, you slip to the bottom, if on top.
Do not worry, not a thought or care.
Life leaves us happy, life feels unfair.
Take life’s blows, come back for more;
your turn will come again, as before.
