Last Note
~~~~~
More bullets shot from an automatic gun.
You are sure, these must be the last ones.
Yet, once more death and once more pain
And, we all understand it’ll happen again.
One more sad manifesto fostered by fear
and, we have allowed this to happen here.
Domestic terrorist murders adult or child,
run out of numbers for statistics compiled.
One more shooter, many people lie slain.
Still, we refuse to act, we must be insane.
Another person, whose hate equals death;
happens so often, I can’t catch my breath.
Is such horror truly what they’ve planned?
Rich who abet, left no place safe to stand.
One more promise of prayers and thought,
not votes, lobbyists in back rooms bought.
If bullets are gone will our blood-lust sate?
Have we, far too long, been raised on hate?
Will we have time, learn what went wrong?
Will guns murder the last note in our song?
