Onward to Begin

It is time to put people over politics, country over capitulation and world over wealth.
~~~~~
Stop. Listen to the world
in all its fecund profusion.
Block out the noise,
our daily whirl,
which leads only
to confusion.
Stop, now. Put away
our toys; they cannot,
in most ways,
begin to help us
repair what we destroy.
Is there no saving grace,
no path forward,
through the odorous fen?
Do the stars reflect
on the water and the sward?
And, if not, what then?
Can you hear bees
whispering in wonder
with the flowers,
the bird’s sweet hymn
praising each new day?
We have created such
clamorous cacophony
we no longer hear much
beyond the fearsome horror
we carry with us, everywhere.
We fear to truly listen
to what we know is lost,
frightened, uncertain if we dare.
Yet, if we but would,
we might find the glory
in our unity with all,
which we no longer recall.
If we stood a moment
we might remember what
we chose to bring
to build, give, care, create,
write, act, draw, dance or sing.
Opposites as well,
love to balance hate.
Knowing then, able to tell
why we were born to learn.
to crawl, walk, run, to feel
the warmth of noonday sun.
What messages might
we find waiting within
the bark of a every tree,
the brilliance of stars,
sparkling across the night,
calling us to reach them?
As nature quests
to plant new life,
it never rests or tires,
recovering from all stress,
surpassing every strife.
We would scatter people
seeds in our hope
to discover fertile ground
in barren places, oasis
as yet unfound.
Until we find the end
of this, of us and all,
know we neither stop
nor stall, which leads
us onward to begin
this all again.
