Acknowledge the Day

Stick Your Neck Out

Stick Your Neck Out

Three cheers, I say, to my very good day
A day which I may well pay for tomorrow
Which is already a few minutes underway
Think it’s all right on tomorrow to borrow

I have written and painted and shopped
Worked on a project to faux knotty pine
Lunchtime, I even sat down and stopped
So everything seemed to be working fine

A few aches and pains I can already feel
Unless impossible, I plan to ignore them
Meet the new day with just as much zeal
And to polish it, too, like a gleaming gem

Anyway my new day is, I shall feel good
If able I’ll act or I’ll sit today on the shelf
I alone shall choose, decide on my mood
Acknowledge the day, be good to myself
