Part One

Stories we learn are the ones we live.
Rarely do we change how we interact.
Education may help us rise, but won’t
remove the education we had at home.
Were we taught to be kind to care and
return more of ourselves than we take?
Our home means more than our house.
More than the land where we are born.
It’s the foundation on which it’s built.

Look deeper into your myths, legends,
creation story you learned when young.
Does yours have an angry god, a tyrant,
a god who made an impossible demand
and then punished you for succumbing.
A tale where knowledge is your burden
where subsequent generations must pay.
But you are told you’re king of creation.
The very story I was taught when young.

I rejected it and may finally realize why.
It comes down to a temperamental god.
A deity who sets a test which we will fail.
The first command was not to take action.
Our purported ancestors did not comply.
Now we’re told we’re in control over all.
Sadly, it’s just a set up destined to defeat
We are told we must when we should not.
All stories we create to do what we want.
