Before We Know

How would we have turned out,
if we’d had four arms and hands,
instead of the measly two we got?
Could this be true on distant sands?

Other beings like this in our cosmos,
if we ever chance to meet, say hello,
one-hand shake insult, you suppose?
I expect a long time before we know.
