Ashamed

A glowing orb reflects itself in opposition.

~~~~~
We should all be ashamed.
None of us must remain unnamed,
Whatever we believe now,
Not matter what we learned, or how
Or we believed yesterday,
What we were taught, not in our DNA,
We are ever likely to believe,
Open our eyes; we are being deceived.
The time we are breathing,
Whether we’re calm or we’re seething,
We should all be ashamed.
If anyone suffers because,
And gives no one reason to pause,
Another claims too much,
With no thought of tender human touch,
We should all be ashamed.
If anyone in our world lives in hunger,
A few live rich by greed and plunder,
And we and others waste food;
Common sense says this cannot be good.
It must be understood,
We should all be ashamed.
We should all be ashamed.
We must fight till our world is reclaimed.
Though our actions show
We will deny everything we know.
When the needs of all
Are ignored by those who live behind walls.
If anyone has no shelter,
With no call for any helter-skelter.
As a minority inhabit grotesque mansions.
Until a majority seek mindful expansions,
We should all be ashamed.
