Will Always Be

To the Lighthouse ~ Philip Brent Harris

Does your life feel like a Mobius strip,
An infinitely endless high wire?
Never getting anywhere, still you trip.
Or like a spiral, going lower, climbing higher?
Perhaps, the spiral of a hypnotist’s disc?
Do you fall off one watching the other?
Lost in tawdry mystery, unwilling to risk
Diving into the deep end, afraid you’ll smother?

What is drowning but smothering by water?
H2O, like all life, two things at once,
Heat that can burn to ash, can also fuel a cauter.
Electrons which cling in matter, wildly bounce.
Daily,  you’re overcome with problems petty,
Seeking to take part in grand adventures,
Not whether to eat soup or spaghetti.
Do you think you’ll be brave or full of fears?

No matter; fill your cup of living to the brim,
You may drink sweet, heady wine or poison.
In your life times you’ll do both, don’t look so grim.
It will always either be twelve or a dozen.
