Such power has left me
long ago, if I ever had it,
besides in the strength of
my arms. Bright, but not
so much as to become
incandescent, illuminating
some dark corner of our
world. No masterpieces,
at least none I recognize.
I fantasize some future
scholar who holds, is
the Rosetta Stone to all I
have been, all I am, was
and have tried to share
throughout my brief
existence. For some my
candle may have burned
more brightly than for
most I encountered. Did
I think my existence
would reach great
heights or did I only
want the recognition?
Without the brilliance or
the work to make it so.
Still, I dream as my
calendar pages drift away
to litter the floor and
create ongoing clutter
in my fleeting house.
