(I intended to post every day this month, then COVID laid me low.
We think life listens to us, but that’s not always how it goes.)
Gone now, the widows and orphans,
the wounded soldiers, all who
might remember the pain, suffering
and heartbreak of war. The sudden
message, a cable, a letter, or visit
from a comrade who survived, no
matter how damaged. Forever scarred
even with no outward signs. All
wounds are not of the body. Some
cut much deeper and last far longer.
When will enough have learned the
lessons of soldiers of victims? The
innocent who perish to satisfy evil lust,
A lust for power, a greed for destruction,
genocide. How little we have evolved.
