I’m Watching You ~ Philip Brent Harris

Walk with me a while, holding hands.
The leaves turn red, die. Snow falls,
a soft blanket to cover us, smooth
the lumps and bumps of our lives.

All a grand illusion, artist’s sleight
of hand, our hidden creation. Still,
our steps are only preparation,
practice, until we perform the trick

Impossibility is the tyro’s cheap excuse.
We must always do the work. Fail and
fail again, until the moves feel easy. Then
strive more through dark, stormy nights.

Struggle in bright day while others relax.
You envy them resent them for their mastery.
What is the mystery they have conquered?
Is it simply, they’ve never worried or tried?

Diversity is Unity, Empathy is Empowerment
