Heart of the Matter ~ Philip Brent Harris
Step into your sacred sanctuary.
Do you wonder where that lies?
Our flickering blue god freed.
Worshiped at home, not solely.
Crouched in our living room to
swear at us, show our children
dirty pictures, to demand faith.
Now, it is glued to our hand, a
missel where we seek wisdom.
A simple prayer yields volumes,
drives to highways, destinations
undreamed. Yet, beware unwary
pilgrims. This glossy turnpike is
gross, littered with highwaymen,
who will guide us to treasure; so
they will garner greater profits.
False prophets, frauds, swindlers,
grifters and charlatans everyone.
Secrets hidden in plain sight, lost,
ignored because they neither feed
nor soothe our greatest fears. Fears
we keep buried deep within; fed by
horrors our god replays constantly.
Perception more than a message;
It is what they want us to believe.
