Life Seeks Center ~ Philip Brent Harris

Slowly and surely, softly and silently
the unexpected creeps in. Shhhhh.
Until it whacks us upside the head,
screams, “Wake Up,!” until we do.
We would have this world beautiful.
Yet, sometimes it’s not, nor can it be.
So we would rob it of its future truth
Claiming our truth is all that matters.
We may turn our back to our denial
Pretend the future doesn’t exist and
plays no part of our reality, despite
how it support our life’s foundations.
Remember, we’ll grow old and slow
of this body, though not of our being.
When our fleeting house is gone, we
move on, say, “Yes, I belong to this.
Know, half the whole is all we carry
when we return, express this illusion.
We seek our other half, like particles
connected over every distance, time.
When we come together, we balance
life’s equation. We may embody and
express all change, seek and discover
our core, reason we are here this time.
Wake up our senses: so, eyes may see,
ears may hear, nose may scent, mouth
may taste. Our minds may then know.
Wake up our hearts that we may feel.
