How will we cause the colors to appear
when life appears black and white, blank,
no matter where, how far away we gaze?
We may as well gaze into our own navels.
The permanent scar which marks us flesh
proves little enough in its shy profundity.
Whether we dance, caper, ramble, race, or
march stately on, as if our bearing matters.
Who knows, claims to say? Perhaps it does,
if we want to think that is truth, the truth.
Our quick truth, that we conceive to believe
is leavened by the wild yeast of all creation.
