Echoes come from far away,
another time and place.
Even if we live there,
it’s lost in the deeps of space.
I have heard it said,
the beginning of wisdom arrives
when we know what we don’t know.

What if we have heard this wrong?
What we know is something
which we must strive to unlearn.
Think of those who buy the lie.
Not the current one,
the big one which tells us,
repeatedly, that we’re all alone.

I think the echoes aren’t distorted.
That lies within us, alone.
Wrapped in the silence we claim
is the reality in which we live.
When, in fact, it is this silence
that may allow us to listen, to hear
the sound and echoes of everything.
