It, it, the universal it
Got up one morning
And took a great big shit

But shit’s designed
To make things grow
It had to happen
Don’t you know

And the world
Grew and changed
But the smell
Never went away

2021 Coda

Wrote the words above
At a tender age.
Though in many ways,
I still believe them true.

Out walking yesterday
A horse pie on our path led me
To a new understanding.
A way to show connection.

Not just to other humans
But to all living beings.
No matter who or what we are
Our shit still smells like shit.
