People Over Politics, World Over Wealth!
Once upon a single life nearly fifty years ago
I sat upon a brick wall in Palo Alto feeling low.
Without money a place to stay, listening to an
unknown rock band in Litton Plaza, I heard
A dulcet voice offering me hello. Who knew
such a simply greeting would change my life
forever after. Though I remained unaware, fate
had chosen my future. I looked up smiled hello;
I had no other choice. We talked over coffee
and an unremembered cookie flavor this sweet
angel bought me. In her car we talked more,
hours more, before she drove off in the early
morning hours. Weeks passed. We connected
once, despite several calls, missed moments.
I thought I had misread the feelings. Almost,
I blew it, decided to hitchhike north, go on.
A feeling carried her to come and wait four
hours, near where we met. I came walking by
and that was that. A month and a couple of
days later, we married our fortunes together
at a friend’s house around the corner from
her parents home, where she grew up. That
was our second beginning, with tales to tell.
