How do we contain what we are?
Where are we going at any moment?
Will we ever listen to the sky and trees,
Let alone the so-called birds and bees?
I don’t have answers; perhaps I never will.
Still, I will live my life in full, even
if I have times of meager means or spirit.
Not the days, the months or the years,
For I know that I and all will be gone.
Though life will remain on this world of ours.
We view it such, though we are smaller
Than not only our dreams but also reality.
Too often our dreams have been given us
By the hucksters and shysters, who thrive
on the pain and suffering of others
To prove, if only to themselves, they’re more.
The vessel is larger than our imagination.
It contains us and the universe entire.
