Peace is Purpose, Nonviolence is Strength, Diversity is Unity, Empathy is Empowerment

We must share our stories
all of us, whenever possible.
We are at risk.
Pick your poison,
climate change, pollution.
starvation, stress,
violence, encouraged
and enhanced by fools,
mountebanks and misers.
Profits proffered as basic
rights and necessities
requiring us to battle others,
however they are portrayed,
Foreign, poor,
another race, gender,
orientation, political enemies
more, but always
those most like us,
poor against poor and pourer.
All, while we face,
threats to our future,
our environment,
our species.
Along with many others
bears, penguins,
lions, cheetahs, pangolin,
some photogenic, some not.
Yet, that makes
no difference, whatever.
Many will disappear,
which may include us.
Cosmic lottery decides
which few survive.
The planet does not care,
nor does fickle time,
for change is constant.
Nothing lasts forever;
event follows event
answering a need for balance.
Our decision,
the only one that matters,
how long and how well
we survive.
