Neither a Laugh Nor a Tear

Today, I decided to remove my face,
to discover what I would find beneath.
It looked a bit like red, stringy lace.
Much like we will all one day bequeath.

Wait, that says you’re the same as me,
whether rich, poor, or a place between.
You think you’re special, things, money.
I find your attitude more than obscene.

We’ll all blow away, rot underground,
size of monument, won’t matter at all.
An unseen future, our bones are found;
they may know if we were short or tall.

Might know if you had been lionized,
have not one idea who you are or were.
Do you live humbly or rave and rant?
No one cares, neither a laugh nor tear.
