Three X Six X How

Strangers in Our Own Land ~ Philip Brent Harris

Surrounded by silence
Within the cacophony we create,
How can we hear the bee is absent?

Overwhelmed by visual images,
Created to distract us, drive us mad,
How can we see there are no birds on the wing?

Paved in hot tar, smothered by concrete,
Lost in dark, city mazes, our own creation,
How will we ever again be able to feel the Earth?

Poisoned by the water we fouled and drink,
Pictures, film, video, fading memory all that’s left,
How will ever know the healing power of pure water?

Choked by the air we polluted and breath,
Our vision blurred and blinkered by our toxic sky,
How will we get enough oxygen, know the sun’s warmth?

All damaged by men who sought power,
Incited us to bloody war and ultimate self-destruction.
How have the rest of us let it to happen, condoned Earthicide?

Peace is Purpose, Nonviolence is Strength,  Diversity is Unity, Empathy is Empowerment
