Sometimes I wonder who I am, who I might become.
I wonder at the sound of rain and the feel of snow on
my tongue. Can you tell me you have never wondered
who might hold you in the middle of the night on a
rainy summer day? Sitting before a fireplace in rented
rooms, who’s to say what is correct or wrong in any
ultimate sense? What are the secrets that you told me
lying in bed? What I said I learned your news, how I
acted. Confused, despite the depths of my joy and sorrow.
