People Over Politics, World Over Wealth

We all stand upon the shoulders
of giants, though those who think
they are on top, appear unable to
see. Are they wearing blindfolds,
or do they simply not care? End it
all, so they can have a moment’s
pleasure, another dollar stuffed in
their pocket, the song they sing.
They know they‘ll be gone, yet
they refuse to believe or change.
So it doesn’t matter what they do
or how awful it makes the world
for the rest of us. Another failed
civilization, when discovered by
aliens during first contact, if only.
