Make It So ~ Philip Brent Harris

Coming from the crowded places where people abide, I forget the vast stretches of open ground I see when I fly. It looks almost imagined it’s so enormous, with occasional straight lines, the sign of people. Perhaps, that’s the sure sign we don’t work with nature, follow natural paths. Instead, we attempt to impose order where we go. Yet, we do not stop the rain, snow, wind, fire, deluge or drought. Not so far, at least. Though science fiction posits weather control is on the near horizon.

Not that everything sci-fi imagines has or will come to pass. Keep an eye on it. Some who practice the art are scientists, some not. All are dreamers, mystics, almost shamans. They don’t do magic, but they describe it. They put forth ideas and scenarios to tell a story of the possible impossible. If not intended to make us think, it’s still the creators’ explorations, their shared thought experiment. Imagine discovering the undiscovered land, the magical words or phrases that ultimately alter reality by their very existence.
