What are those times when a soloist
takes the stage, usually through merit?
Confidence tricksters may also hold the
audience in thrall, as though they play
great music on par with the greatest
players who filled us with their magic.

Then, though tragedy may strike, leave
us exposed to the elements, the fear
and hubris of others, who have been
led to believe they matter far beyond
the rest of us. When all are at base
the same, though talent may shine.
