Slide and hide from life,
yet you are sure to be found.
Whether you end up in the gutter
or discovered to great renown.
Someday you too will be forgotten,
relegated to the depths of time
though I and others may breathe the
same air as the first hominid who stood
upright  and stayed there by conscious
choice alone. That has happened and will
happen again and again, though it grants
us no more than one more breath,
one more moment, alive and continuing.
