People Over Politics, World Over Wealth

Will I find it walking the trail,
the trees whispering into my ear?
Will I find it waiting along the road,
every sign and driver telling me anew?
Is it in the squeak of the floorboards.
the step I skip so I don’t wake you?
Can I find it in my view out the window?
The open canyon, the trees and bushes?
Can I find it in the books piled upon tables,
ranked in bookcases around the room?
Will you tell me again today, although
I don’t need to hear you say it.
Living in every silence and conversation,
it’s there when we say goodnight.
Easily found when we turn off the lights.
It’s there in every morning
when we rise and greet the day.
There is never a time it is absent,
not a moment I don’t
understand your meaning: always.
