Golden Afternoon ~ Philip Brent Harris
The magic hour, the golden light
filled with power; it fills our sight.
Here, then it’s ghostly gone, ere we
notice. Where went its silent song?
A lazy evening as three deer dance
away, up a hillside, chance at play.
The trees, golden crowns tarnished,
then gone, the golden hour vanished.
Still, the sun airs above the horizon.
Our orison besom sweeps day aside.
We abide in twilight. Will we stay?
Why night appeals, if we will linger,
golden glow or god’s middle finger.
Sun’ll set soon upon distant shores.
I’m on mine and you wait on yours.
Still, we’ll see our own far horizon.
