Seeking Safe Harbor ~ Philip Brent Harris
Massive and momentous, titans stride,
Until the Earth trembles before them.
Subtle breeze carries a calming grace.
Even this cannot escape driving fire.
Discussions ensue, yet none resolve.
Gaze outward, to the sea and glory as
A storm shrouds the dwindling sunset.
Salvaged by surf till all fear they will
Drown in the darkness, life quenched.
Arise in the gilded morn to placid sea.
Silken zephyrs sends you toward land.
Sun reflection from the beach. Beware!
Soldiers wait at the docks, on the sand.
Smokes rises before the crack of guns
Reaches your ears, as death fall short.
Cannons boom as you reef your sails.
Turn the wheel hard away from certain
Too slowly. Holed above the water, you
Limp on to an unplanned destination as
You patch the hole, sail into the tempest.
