People Over Politics, World Over Wealth!
The Show Must Go On ~ Philip Brent Harris
Sad to say, you’ll wonder, the prince of darkness has lost his place.
The world outside informs me the king of darkness wears that face.
Or is it only me who is lost, despite the daily horrors we are shown?
Only me and only I who believes that humanity’s sanity has flown?
Choices and choices upon choices, so that we can pick our poison.
Greedy gluttony dulls our senses, no matter which sense is chosen.
Or black ink from a tainted needle scratching some obscene image.
A mask worn by every saint and sinner, a claimed or denied visage.
Original or purloined words, that may be simple or overly complex.
Write that we must change the answer; it’s more than drink and sex.
Still, I‘m but a prophet, scraggly, old, long of tooth and long of beard.
Screams of hope, drowned by the noises of everything you’ve feared.
Any one of the isms or any one of other narrow words ending with S.
Hissing like the gas into your chamber, it’s you it’s longing to possess.
Till then I can only try to continue to attune with all cosmic energy.
Do my utmost to change the music, while I’m searching for the key.
