Prepare to hide your children.
We are being invaded.
Can occupation.be far behind?
How can we be invaded?
The troops belong to us.
Have you started to worry?
When will the teargas
And the flashbangs change
Into nerve gas and grenades
Prepare to shelter your elders
If they have not fallen
To a virus our leaders ignored?
Will you think they escaped
Though in pain and alone?
Will you see this as mercy?
How will you look at friends,
family, neighbors and strangers
Who refused to pretend to believe?
Prepare to find a deep hole,
A shack or a lean-to where
You may hide, barely survive.
Will we know we have failed
And that Earth will find balance
And that we do not matter, at all?
Why can’t we see the long view,
Understand we all slip away?
Then, might we change today?
