What I Always Expected

He was sure he could encompass it all
Inside of his brain, his body, his being/
A world grown oh so incredibly small;
With little work all would be agreeing/

But we did not agree, and battles raged,
Despite how tightly all were connected.
Not yet evolved, our animal’s uncaged
And really, it’s what I always expected.

And now pandemic spreads its discord;
Many will perish, no fault of their own.
Why? Many know; history will record.
Rattled sabers will carve us to the bone.

But beasts at heart, no better than slime.
No lies we were told or how we pretend,
Homewreckers war, peace, illness, time;
Damning ourselves, our own sorry end.
