Learning Curve ~ Philip Brent Harris
~~~~~
Many think we come into the world tabula rasa.
I believe slate is not blank, it is a white canvas.
White looks quite stark, contains all the colors,
Throughout life, we scrape off some, add others.
Painted canvas, like puzzle pieces, fill in life’s tale;
No matter where we start or end, it’s the right trail.
Loss, failure, marked by humanity’s meager mean.
Forlorn, we paint our colors on the cosmic screen.
We see our self as central, all alone in our own head.
Acknowledge life exists beyond, despite what’s said.
Monkey-brain chatters endlessly, afraid to be whole,
Admit all is one, one life, painted with pieces of soul.
