I Don’t Know

My spring of words is running low
and, I don’t know where I should go.
Do I pump a mental handle, start the flow?
I can’t figure it out, does anyone know?
Perhaps, I must wait till it refills, though,
I really want to write something now, so
I want it to come fast, not come slow.
I’ll diligently look both high and low,
Dig in my mind’s dirt with a mental hoe,
to see what I might be able to grow,
once I’ve planted thoughts, row by row.
Yet, if my spring is really running low,
how will I water these mixed metaphors?
I don’t know.
