We’re Gone

Clothes Make the Man ~ Philip Brent Harris

Everything is rapidly growing worse
It is true in prose, it is true in verse
We’ll all party until we finally drop
Time will show us we’re not on top

Let’s dance across the sands of time
To discover that it is just quick-lime
Or sink into the slime and the ooze
It does not matter which we choose

We will preen and prance and linger
In the shadow of God’s middle finger
Take a risk, stand and place your bet
We’re gone; we just don’t know it yet

Our game of Earth coming to a close
And becoming exactly what we chose
Our cesspit of darkest, dankest order
Maim, rape kill for imaginary borders

But come all patriots, terrorists, fools
Those who think they make the rules
From you, greedy folk, all take cover
Or party and forget until time is over

Won’t take as long as you may think
We are already dancing on the brink
Ponder, pray, flee, fight, get through
Ultimately, won’t matter what we do

Peace is Purpose, Nonviolence is Strength,  Diversity is Unity, Empathy is Empowerment
