Oh, what we lack in education?
The classical reference, mythic
name or situation? What do we
call bright dawn, but dawn? And
ne’er would midnight be referred to
as Erebus, like the fabled ship lost
in search of the Northwest Passage.
Its companion, the Terror, equally
ill-fated with such a name. Yes, this
I know. But what of true antiquity,
besides the brief tidbits we learned
in school? The Argos yielding Jason’s
Argonauts. Our imagination more fired
by Harryhausen’s cheesy, stop-motion.
Who can resist battling skeletons?
