People Over Politics, World Over Wealth
~~~~~
~~~~~
When light is darkness and darkness light,
nothing in the world feels right nor makes
a bit of common sense. It takes an effort to
be up from morning breakfast until we sup.
When comfort feels in short supply. We’ll
all search for the wherefores and the why,
walking the world in utter, rank confusion
Beaten, battered, cut, with dark contusions,
when hate would dominate love. Some seek
answers from above, slip below the surface,
hide their faces. Once true, from need, for
darker races. Each may feel the pull of fear.
What have I said, done? What did they hear?
I walk a world of rank confusion, though I’ll
try my best to survive. More, I say, I’ll thrive.
I will lend my brush and pen to tell my truth,
not pretend. For I know darkness is not light
nor light darkness. I will lift my lamp, hold it
high, to show confusion is nebulous as a sigh.
