He releases his balloon to watch it fly.
Cries, since she knows it’s long gone.
Though not his father’s sharp’s words
cutting deeply into her psychic flesh,
they shrink away. But the words don’t
come, at least not yet. He’s expected to
know and punish herself accordingly.
They suck back their breath and hide
their feelings; It’s punishment enough.
As they grow, these episodes are lost
deeply, within the secret vault, where
they have squeeze themselves as small
as possible. Keeping their eyes tightly.
closed. Still bits and pieces poke holes
in the walls to escape. So random rays
of light illuminate disparate wants and
needs. They know, no matter what is,
one day they’ll decide to again be free.
