Stepping Out ~ Philip Brent Harris
It is not something you
eat, wear, or hang up as
decorations, mark where
you live, or proclaim self.
Still, is not everything we
do, say, choose, or ignore
only this; nothing more?
I expect my words, life
will be forgotten after I
or any I love are gone.
Love is never past tense,
even after it has ended. It
may morph into its twin,
disdain. All is possible.
Despite not knowing what
or how, I believe I can
express a concept, thought
which speaks a language
never heard before. Perhaps,
it’ll never be spoken again.
Really, why else am I here?
