People Over Politics, World Over Wealth

Pacific Sentinel ~ Philip Brent Harris
Above a steel-gray ocean,
under a brushed nickel sky
yellow blooms in profusion.
Dandelions, mustard, a tall
one, I don’t know the name.
I will promise myself I will
look it up when I get home,
though I’ll probably forget.
Grasses, shrubs, and cypress
fill to the edge of the strand.
Walking back through more
yellow lupine, beach daisies,
along a path, hemlock lined.
Queen Anne’s lace, perhaps,
grows high above my head.
Great piles of dead ice plant
huddle amidst native growth
near a bench with a fine view.
I watch the clouds break apart,
the Pacific ocean turning blue.
Diversity is Unity, Empathy is Empowerment
Peace is Purpose, Nonviolence is Strength,
Unite the World
