In the deepest darkness
where most folks don’t go,
you will discover people
not wearing any clothes.

In the deepening darkness
where most of us dwell,
everyone’s willingly blind.
No fire, yet still it is hell.

Each lives with a view,
whether it is day or night.
Some fear the bright sun
and others seek starlight.

Each knows this isn’t right.
Living in darkness is rank.
Know they must seek sun, yet
stay in the dark and the dank.

Why do we hide from light?
Try to pretend it’s not there.
Live like moles in a tunnel,
but unable to go anywhere.

Why do we learn to suppress
all the light we carry within?
When we search for an answer
maybe then our life will begin.

If we become frightened, we
lash out, inflicting great pain.
Though we aim it at others, it
is always ourselves we cane.

If we continue our struggle,
we’ve a chance to lift the veil.
It’s weight may equal history.
If we persist, we shall prevail.
